Schwarzenberg in 1789

This specimen was lot 1562 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$33,987 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Schwarzenberg, Fürstentum. Adam Franz, 1703-1732. Dukat 1729, Wien. Mit der Signatur B (Philipp Christoph Becker, Stempelschneider in Wien). Münzmeister Joseph Ignaz Keibel. Von grösster Seltenheit. Fast FDC. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Austria, principality of Schwarzenberg, Adam Francis, 1703-32, ducat of 1729, Vienna mint, with mintmaster's initial "B". Of the highest rarity, About uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

The SCWC also notes a thaler from this prince in 1729. The mint right was granted to the prince for his services to the emperor. Schwarzenberg was wedged between Wurzburg and Bayreuth and passed to Bavaria in 1806.
