This specimen was lot 11545 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €264 (about US$275). The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 2/3 Taler, 1690. Schleswig-Holstein-Plöen. Johann Adolf. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." The duchy of Schleswig-Holstein-Plön was erected in 1622 out of the duchy of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg. John Adolf (b. 1634, r. 1671-1704) was the second of four ruling dukes of this line, which lasted until 1761. This is the only year this denomination is listed for this state yet four varieties were made (KM 14, KM 15, KM 16, KM 17).
