Sincona sale 102, lot 5450

This specimen was lot 5450 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$226 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Schaffhausen. Halbbatzen 1809, Bern. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, Schaffhausen, half batzen of 1809, Bern mint. About Uncirculated.)"

The canton of Schaffhausen issued three denominations during 1808-09, a kreuzer, a half batzen and a batzen. All are scarce. Forty batzen = four franken = one thaler and ten rappen = one batzen.

Recorded mintage: 30,000.

Specification: 2.0 g, billon, 23 mm diameter, this specimen 1.94 g.
