Sincona sale 4, lot 5609

This specimen was lot 5609 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011), where it sold for 3,300 CHF (about US$4,390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Schaffhausen Dukat 1633. Reich verziertes Wappen. Rv. Nimbierter Doppeladler. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Schaffhausen, ducat of 1633. Obverse: city arms; reverse: nimbate double headed eagle. Extremely fine.)"

The SCWC notes this type for 1633, 1657 and an undated issue emitted in 1658. All are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3,45 g.
