Schaffhausen 1628 4 heller
This specimen was lot 5439 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$302 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
" SCHWEIZ. Schaffhausen. Vierer 1628, Schaffhausen. Ausgeschriebene Jahreszahl. Selten. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, Schaffhausen, half kreuzer or vierer of 1628, Schaffhausen mint, complete date. Rare, Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1626-28 and undated. Four heller made a vierer or half a kreuzer. One batzen was four kreuzer. The city arms depict an ibex leaping, sometimes by itself or out of a castle window (as here).
Recorded mintage: unknown but very scarce.
Specification: 0.53 g, billon, 15 mm diameter, this specimen 0.38 g.
