This specimen was lot 73340 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/6 Taler, 1869-B. Dresden Mint. Johann. PCGS MS-66. Defined by a bold cabinet toning and an abundance of underlying toning, this Gem is sure to catch the eye of the German specialist as well as the collector of quality pieces. It is no surprise this is the finest certified example at PCGS or NGC." This type was struck in substantial quantities 1860-71 and is common in all grades. It is the last of the denomination before the coinage reform of 1871-73.
