This specimen was lot 959 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXONY: Friedrich August III, 1763-1806, AR thaler, Dresden, 1795, IEC mintmaster, a lovely lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS63, ex Almer Orr III Collection." This type was struck in some numbers 1791-1806 along with a mining thaler (Dav-2703). The initials IEC stood for Johann Ernst Kroll, mintmaster at Dresden 1779-1804.
