Künker sale 335, lot 4285

This specimen was lot 4285 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,449 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM. Johann Georg II. 1656-1680. Reichstaler 1678, Dresden. Gesamttaler. RR Feine Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George II, 1656-80, thaler of 1678, Dresden mint. Rare, fine patina, very fine.)"

This is the final date of a scarce type issued 1675-78. The issues of the last decade of the seventeenth century are generally rare.
