Sincona sale 9, lot 3841

This specimen was lot 3841 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$202 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen, ab 1547 Kurfürstentum, Albertiner. Christian II., Johann Georg und August unter Vormundschaft, 1591-1611. Dicker Doppeltaler 1598. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, Electorate of Saxony, Christian II, John George and August under joint rule, 1591-1611, double thaler of 1598. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

Davenport notes this type for 1591-1600. The 1601 issue is noted as Dav-7556.
