This specimen was lot 2618 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$870 including buyer's fees). Überdurchschnittlich gut ausgeprägt (electorate of Saxony, Christian II, John George and Augustus under regency (1591-1611), thaler of 1595, Dresden mint. Extraordinarily well struck)." This type was struck in 1592-1601 for dukes Christian II, Johann Georg and August of Saxony. The SCWC notes that this type was struck by the regent Friedrich Wilhelm von Saxe-Altenburg on behalf of the three young brothers shown on the obverse. Davenport has assigned number 9820 to the 1592-1600 issue and number 7557 to the 1601 issue but they are the same type. The coin is common for the era.
