Saxony 1555 1/4 thaler KM-MB153
This specimen was lot 363 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$122 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen, Herzogtum, ab 1547 Kurfürstentum, Albertiner, August, 1553-1586. 1/4 Taler 1555, Freiberg. Münzmeister Andreas Alnpeck, Münzzeichen Adlerkopf. Sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, August, 1553-86, quarter thaler of 1555, Freiberg mint, eagle's head mintmark. Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1554-56. Other quarter thalers of 1555 include KM MB137 (bust holding sword with one hand) and KM MB138 (facing bust of the elector).
