Saxe-Weimar 1618-WA thaler Dav-7529
This specimen was lot 399 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$648 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen-Weimar, Herzogtum, Johann Ernst und seine sieben herzoglichen Brüder, 1605-1619. Taler 1618, Saalfeld. Gutes sehr schön. Feine Patina. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Weimar, John Ernest and his seven brothers, 1605-19, thaler of 1618, Saalfeld mint. Good Very Fine, Nicely toned.)"
This type was struck 1616-19 in Saxe-Weimar and is among the more common thalers of the period. The eight brothers depicted were co-rulers of the tiny state; the last one, William IV, died in 1662.
