Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach 1841-A thaler Dav-845
This specimen was lot 1293 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €380 (about US$512 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-WEIMAR, HERZOGTUM, AB 1741 SACHSEN-WEIMAR-EISENACH, AB 1815 GROSSHERZOGTUM, Carl Friedrich, 1828-1853. Taler 1841. Vorzüglich. (grand duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Charles Frederick, 1828-53, thaler of 1841. Extremely fine.)"
This type, tho minted only the one year, is more available than the matching double thaler (Dav-844) which was struck 1840-43 and 1848.
Recorded mintage: 203,000.
Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, .537 troy oz ASW, lettered edge, 34 mm diameter.
