This specimen was lot 6557 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$18,092 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, SACHSEN-MEININGEN, Georg II. 1866-1914. 20 Mark 1889. R Vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, George II, 1866-1914, twenty mark of 1889, extremely fine.)"
The gold issues of this locale are scanty and rare and this one year type is no exception.
Recorded mintage: 4,032 plus proofs.
