Künker sale 335, lot 4345

This specimen was lot 4345 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €140 (about US$183 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-MEININGEN, HERZOGTUM, VON 1735 BIS 1826. Ernst Ludwig I. 1706-1724. 2 Pfennig 1707. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, Ernest Louis I, 1706-24, two pfennig of 1707. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This denomination is not listed in the SCWC for this state. The auctioneers have catalogued this correctly as the "2 ₰" on the reverse means two pfennig. The "SML" on the obverse means "Saxe-Meiningen Land-Munze".

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: billon, this specimen 0.57 g.

Catalog reference: Grobe 100.
