Sincona sale 11, lot 1875

This specimen was lot 1875 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 22,000 CHF (about US$27,237 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Savoyen/Sardinien Vittorio Amedeo I. 1630-1637. Lir. 1634, Turin. V Tipo. Von grosser Selten­heit. Sehr schön. (duchy of Savoy, Victor Amadeus I, 1630-37, lira of 1634, Turin mint. Of the greatest rarity, very fine.)"

This handsome coin is listed in the SCWC for 1634 only. The next issue, KM 291 of 1675-80, was less than half the weight of this coin.

Specification: 12.66-13.25 g, silver; this specimen is 12.08 g.
