This specimen was lot 1288 in Auktionshaus H.D. Rauch GmbH Auction 95 (Vienna, September 2014) where it sold for 3,800 EUR (about US$5,882 including buyer's fees). The lot description noted, "ITALIEN, Savoyen, (D) Carlo Emanuele II. 1639-1675 Ducatone 1642, Turin Av. Schrötlingsfehler, RR s.sch./f.s.sch. (duchy of Savoy, Charles Emanuel II, 1639-75, ducatone of 1642, Turin mint. Planchet defects, very rare, about very fine.)" This very rare type was struck 1641-42. The woman on the obverse is the duke's mother, who served as regent.
