This type was struck for the Sultanate of Hejaz and Nejd in AH 1346 and 1348. It is very similar to a type struck for the United Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in AH 1356.
The specimen shown was lot 1385 in Steve Album Auction #12, held on January 13, 2012, and sold for US$1100. The catalog description reads: "HEJAZ & NEJD: Abdul-Aziz bin Saud, as King, 1927-1932, AR ¼ riyal, AH1348, Extremely Fine."
Recorded mintage: 200,000.
Specification: 6.05g, 0.917 silver, 0.1784 oz ASW.
