This type was struck for the Sultanate of Hejaz and Nejd in AH 1346 and 1348. It is very similar to a type struck for the United Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in AH 1356.

The specimen shown was lot 1386 in Steve Album Auction #12, held on January 13, 2012, and sold for US$1700. The catalog description reads: "HEJAZ & NEJD: Abdul-Aziz bin Saud, as King, 1927-1932, AR ½ riyal, AH1348, Extremely Fine."

Recorded mintage: 100,000.

Specification: 12.1 g, 0.917 silver, 0.3567 oz ASW.
