This specimen was lot 2810 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States - Sardinia. 20 Lire, 1821-L. Mint mark, Eagle head. Carlo Felice. First year of type. NGC graded AU-55." This type was struck at Turin (shown here) and Genoa 1821-31. While not rare, it is scarce, particularly in nice condition. The total for 1821 includes a few struck with the bust of Carlo's predecessor Vittorio Emanuele I.

Recorded mintage: 17,584 (including KM 117).

Specification: 6.45 grams, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW, 21 mm diameter.
