This specimen was lot 3299 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €200 (about US$283 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · DIE GEISTLICHKEIT IN DEN HABSBURGISCHEN ERBLANDEN, SALZBURG, ERZBISTUM, Hieronymus von Colloredo, 1772-1803. Konv.-Taler 1791. Winz. Kratzer, fast vorzüglich. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Hieronymus von Colloredo, 1772-1803, convention thaler of 1791 Hairlines, about extremely fine.)"

The Archbishopric of Salzburg was an ecclesiastical state between Bavaria and Austria and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client. In the seventeenth century it was blessed with a number of productive silver mines and the prince-archbishop was a prolific issuer of coins, particularly thalers. This type was struck 1789-1803 and is common. The Archbishop is most remembered as the first patron of Mozart but grew irritable when Mozart demanded better status than a mere employee.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, 42 mm diameter, this specimen 28,00 g.
