This specimen was lot 70320 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Salzburg. Taler, 1789. Hieronymus von Colloredo. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Exceptionally wholesome and sporting a deep cabinet tone, this alluring crown retains a great deal of shimmering brilliance remaining in the protected areas." This convention thaler was struck for the archbishop 1789-1801. It is common. The Archbishop is most remembered as the first patron of Mozart but grew irritable when Mozart demanded better status than a mere employee.
