Sincona sale 76, lot 1544

This specimen was lot 1544 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,159 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Salzburg, Erzbistum. Jakob Ernst von Liechtenstein, 1745-1747. Dukat 1746, Salzburg. Mit der Signatur MK (Franz Matzenkopf, Münzmeister in Salzburg, ca. 1727-1754). Sehr selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS61. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Jacob Ernest of Liechtenstein, 1745-47, thaler of 1746, Salzburg mint, with mintmaster's initials "FMK".Very rare, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This ducat of 1746-47 was accompanied by another ducat featuring the figure of St. Rupert (KM 347).
