This specimen was lot 1705 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it sold for €150 (about US$173 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SAINT EMPIRE, SALZBOURG, Archevêché, Paris von Lodron (1619-1653), AR Taler, 1626. D/ La Madone à l'enfant au-dessus des armes de l'archevêque. Double légende sur le tour. R/ Saint Rupert deb. de f., au-dessus de l'écu de la ville. Traces de corrosion. (archbishopric of Salzburg, Paris of Lodron, 1619-53, silver thaler of 1626. Obverse: Madonna and Child over the arms of the archbishop with double row legend; reverse: St. Rupert facing, over the arms of the city. Traces of corrosion, Very Fine.)"

The Archbishopric of Salzburg was an ecclesiastical state between Bavaria and Austria and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client. In the seventeenth century it was blessed with a number of productive silver mines and the prince-archbishop was a prolific issuer of coins, particularly thalers. This type was struck 1623-53 and is one of the commonest thalers of the seventeenth century.
