Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 57702

This specimen was lot 57702 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Rubles (5 Ounces), 2002-(M). Moscow Mint. GEM PROOF. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the ministries in Russia. By A.V. Baklanov. Obverse: The Emblem of the Bank of Russia, framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim; Reverse: Alexander I, Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire." The regime used this denomination for numerous gold and silver NCLT's in 2002, including Y743, Y763, Y764, Y765, Y767, Y769, Y777 (shown here), Y785 and Y790. While many of them are important or artistic, we find this topic of interest only to a few Kremlin bureaucrats.
