This specimen was lot 7263 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 150 Ruble, 1979. Leningrad Mint. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Struck for Games of the XXII Olympiad, Moscow. Nearly perfect and free of tone, haze or fog." This denomination was introduced in 1977 to sell platinum commemoratives and was used on occasion until 1991. The issues now sell for bullion.

Recorded mintage: 9,728 plus 17,000 proofs.

Specification: 15.54 g, 0.999 fine platinum, .500 troy oz APW.
