This specimen was lot 21434 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1884-CNB AT. NGC AU-58. From early in the reign of Tsar Alexander III, and prior to the adoption of Ruble coinage bearing his portrait. A lightly toned original example." This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283).

Recorded mintage: 355,000.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.
