This specimen was lot 22229 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Kopeks, 1880-CNB HO. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS PROOF-66. A fairly RARE issue in proof that is tied with just one other piece for the top spot in the PCGS census, this shimmering Gem presents a lightly frosted nature and some champagne-subtle rose hints sprinkled throughout." This type of 1867-1914 is common. An 1880/7 overdate exists. It is reduced in weight and fineness from the type of 1860-66.
