Russia 1873-EM 3 kopeks
This specimen was lot 75297 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 3 Kopeks, 1873-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-64 Brown. This charming copper minor offers much remaining mint red and very little evidence of contact, with no marks of any significance." This type was struck 1867-76 and is one of the last issues of the Ekaterinburg mint. The denomination was reduced in weight to 9.83 g in 1867 and struck in that form until the end of the regime.
