Sincona sale 19, lot 612

This specimen was lot 612 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,700 (about US$2,131 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Rouble 1843, Warsaw Mint. Very rare. 10 roubles acc. to Iljin. Old ink rarity marks. About extremely fine." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The preceding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a "wings down" eagle.

Recorded mintage: 267,000.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 20.64 g.
