Sincona sale 99, lot 112

This specimen was lot 112 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Paul I. 1796-1801, Denga 1797, Novodel. Selten, Rare. NGC AU58 BN." There are several novodel dengas listed in the SCWC for 1797 but the others are mintmarked "KM" or "EM". The regular issue half kopeks were struck at the Anninsky mint (KM C93.1, struck 1797-98) and Ekaterinburg (KM C93.2, struck 1797-1801). Novodels were later strikes sold to collectors and insiders.

Specification: 5.12 g, copper, 20 mm diameter, obliquely reeded edge.
