This specimen was lot 72166 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Siberia. 5 Kopeks, 1778/7-KM. Suzun Mint. Catherine II (the Great). NGC MS-62 Brown. A pleasing, well struck coin with soft satiny luster throughout, and deep brown patina." This type was struck 1763-80 in the Suzun (Kolyvan) mint for circulation in Siberia during the reign of Catherine the Great. It is lighter than the standard five kopeks, which was 51 g. On this type, two martens support a shield with the date and value.
