Sincona sale 65, lot 76

This specimen was lot 76 in Sincona sale 65 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$527 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"2 Kopecks 1759, Ekaterinburg Mint. Very fine-extremely fine. (2 копейки 1759, Екатеринбургский МД. 21,79 г. Биткин 451. Состояние очень хорошее - отличное." )

This type was struck 1757-62 at several mints. As they were made without mintmark the issues cannot be separated. We also note KM C7.1 (with lettered edge) and KM C8 (overstrike). Mintmarks were added starting in 1763.

Recorded mintage: 14,229,000.

Specification: 20.48 g, copper; this specimen 21.79 g.
