Stack's Bowers 2022 ANA sale, lot 36487

This specimen was lot 36487 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Kopeks, 1751. Moscow (Red) Mint. Elizabeth I. PCGS EF-40." This type, an early dime, was struck 1746-57 and this date is fairly common. Some of the dates have an assayer's initial, including a 1751-A (not shown here).

Recorded mintage: 1,395,000 (including assayer A).

Specification: 2.42 g, 0.802 fine silver, 20 mm diameter.
