Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72118

This specimen was lot 72118 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1745 MMD. Moscow Mint. Elizabeth. PCGS EF-45. A wholesome and evenly worn Ruble with pleasing, original surfaces and dusty gray toning that darkens at the peripheries." This type was issued from St. Petersburg and Moscow (shown here) 1742-51 and is fairly common tho not cheap. It does not come with assayers' initials.

Recorded mintage: 554,000.

Specification: 25.85 g, 0.802 fine silver.
