Sincona sale 99, lot 53

This specimen was lot 53 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$9,797 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Ducat 1744, Red Mint. Sehr selten. Schön. Leichte Fassungsspuren und etwas bearbeitet. (empire of Russia, Elizabeth, ducat of 1744, Red mint. Very rare. 50 roubles according to Petrov. 40 roubles according to Ilyin. Fine, Small traces of jewelry and some tooling. From the auction Künker 363, Osnabrück, March 2022, lot 2164.)"

The Russian regime minted ducats on numerous occasions during the eighteenth century but always in small quantities. Survivors are today rare.
