This specimen was lot 2710 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $66. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDISH LIVONIA: Karl XI, 1660–1697, AR solidus, Riga, [16]62, a pleasing lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS62." This type was struck 1660-68 for Charles XI of Sweden. Note the "SOLIDVS CIVI RIG·" on the reverse. One thaler was 48 solidi or schillings. The city later returned to Polish rule but was contested between Poland, Sweden and Russia for the next century, Russia emerging the eventual victor. Riga is today the capital of Latvia.
