This specimen was lot 11270 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €105 (about US$110). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/24 Taler, 162. Riga Mint. Gustav II Adolf. NGC AU-50. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." Riga, today the capital of Latvia, has long been an important port in the Baltic Sea. Gustavus Adolphus occupied it in 1621 and annexed it in 1629. The Swedes held it until forced to cede it to Peter the Great of Russia in 1721. This coin was struck 1622-35.
