Reuss-Schleiz 1763-ICE 2/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 4363 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,789 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REUSS-SCHLEIZ, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1806 FÜRSTENTUM Heinrich XII., 1744-1784. 2/3 Taler (1/2 Konv.-Taler) 1763, Saalfeld. RR Vorzüglich. (county of Reuss-Schleiz, Henry XII, 1744-84, two-thirds thaler or half convention thaler of 1763, Saalfeld mint. Very rare, extremely fine.)"
This one honors the peace of Hubertusburg, which ended the Seven Years War. The count also issued a 1/6 thaler, a thaler and a ducat for the occasion. Altho marked and valued at two-thirds thaler, it weighed only half a thaler, reflecting the drop in the value of the gulden.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.
Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 13,93 g.
