This specimen was lot 20692 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description[2] noted, "Regensburg-Bishopric. Anton Ignaz Josef Taler 1787, MS62 PL NGC, struck for the Sede Vacante and featuring an ornate design with 15 small shields surrounding St. Peter in a small boat. A handsome example of this classic Taler." Like most thalers of Regensburg, this one year type is expensive. Unlike the better known city thalers, this one was issued by the bishop.
