Künker sale 405, lot 3086

This specimen was lot 3086 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €20,000 (about US$26,242 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND II., 1619-1637. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Ferdinand II. Nach Überwindung der Kipperkrise 1623. 2 Dukaten 1632, mit Titel Ferdinands II. Münzmeister Balthasar Ziegler. • EXTREMVM • SVBSIDIVM • RATISPO : * • 16 - 32 Wappen mit den gekreuzten Stadtschlüsseln in Barock­kartusche//• FERDINAND : II : ROM : IMP : SEM : AVGVST : Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Schwert und Zepter in den Fängen, auf der Brust zweifeldiges Wappen (Österreich/Lothringen), zwischen den Köpfen Reichsapfel. GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Feine Goldtönung, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, local coinage from the time of emperor Ferdinand II, after the kipper crisis of 1623. Double ducat of 1632, in the name of Ferdinand II. This example realized double the already substantial catalog value. This was the second issue of this denomination.
