Künker sale 405, lot 3089

This specimen was lot 3089 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,199 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND II., 1619-1637. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Ferdinand II. Nach Überwindung der Kipperkrise 1623. Reichstaler 1623, mit Titel Ferdinands II. Münzmeister Balthasar Ziegler. Mit Punkt am Anfang der Vorderseitenumschrift. RR Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, kl. Randfehler, fast vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, local coinage from the time of emperor Ferdinand II, after the kipper crisis of 1623. One thaler of 1623, in the name of Ferdinand II, with a point at the end of the obverse legend. Very rare, attractive example with fine patina, small edge bumps, about extremely fine.)"

This was the first thaler issued by the city in several generations. It is listed for 1623 only.
