Regensburg 1586 guldenthaler
This specimen was lot 2305 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,965 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · REGENSBURG, STADT Guldentaler 1586. Preis der im Anschluß an das Stahlschützenfest veranstalteten Lotterie (Glückshafen). Ein Knabe steht auf rautenverziertem Boden, in jeder Hand ein Glückslos, seitlich je ein Losbehälter, unten Stadtschlüssel in Kartusche//Sieben Zeilen Schrift, umher Verzierungen. RR Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, winz. Kratzer im Feld der Vorderseite, vorzüglich. Exemplar der WAG Online Auction 143, Februar 2023, Nr. 946. (Germany, city of Regensburg, guldenthaler of 1586, prize for the lottery held after the shooting festival. Obverse: a boy stands on a diamond-decorated base, a lucky ticket in each hand, a lottery container on each side, the city key in a cartouche below; reverse: seven lines of inscription, scrolls around. Very rare, an attractive example with handsome patina, tiny scratches in the field of the obverse, extremely fine.)"
The SCWC lists two gulden form Regensburg in 1586 (KM MB158 and MB190) but this is neither one.
