Künker sale 405, lot 3047

This specimen was lot 3047 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €25 (about US$33 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS KARL V., 1520-1556. Prägungen aus der dritten Regensburger Münzperiode von 1551 bis 1559 nach der 2. (Augs­burger) Reichsmünzordnung vom 28. Juli 1551. 1/84 Gulden (Pfennig) 1554. Münzmeister Martin Walch. Sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, pfennig or 1/84 gulden of 1554. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1551-54, 1560-64, 1572-75 and was worth 5/7 of a kreuzer. Other pfennig (KM MB68, MB73) were struck for the bishop of Regensburg.

Specification: 0.85 g, 0.312 fine silver, 17-18 mm diameter, this specimen 0,72 g.
