Prussia 1869-C groschen
This specimen was lot 4178 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €80 (about US$111 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. Silbergroschen 1869, C. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben 1969. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-88, silver groschen of 1869. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1861-73 at Berlin ("A"), 1866-73 at Hannover ("B") and 1867-73 at Frankfurt ("C"). It has a face value 1/30 of a thaler but has 1/35 the silver. Worn specimens fill dealer junk boxes but choice specimens such as this are rare.
