Prussia 1729-EGN ducat Fr-2359
This specimen was lot 3958 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,099 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. Dukat 1729, EGN, Berlin. GOLD. Leicht gewellt, sehr schön +. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, ducat of 1729, Berlin mint. Slightly wavy, very fine or better.)"
This type is listed for 1725-32 with all dates being rare. Issues of ducats in Prussia, never prolific, dwindled after the introduction of the frederick d'or in the 1740's.
