Sincona sale 46, lot 187

This specimen was lot 187 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Brandenburg/Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm I. 1713-1740. Dukat 1720 CG, Königsberg. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Kleine Randfehler. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, 1713-40, ducat of 1720, Königsberg mint. Very rare, About very fine, Minor edge nicks.)"

This type, the most available ducat of Friedrich Wilhelm I, is noted for 1718-21. The SCWC notes this as 1720-M CG but we don't see any trace of an "M". The ducat was superseded in Prussia by the friedrichs d'or (Fr-2380) worth five thalers.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.42 g.
