This type was struck in 1947 along with a quarter, half and one rupia. It was struck by the British under contract. A reduced size version (KM 28) was struck in 1952. The final colonial issues of 1958-61 were based on the escudo. In 1962, India invaded and annexed the Portuguese enclaves of Goa, Damao and Diu and the series ended.
