This specimen was issued by Poland as part of the F.A.O. series. The flatfish shown on the obverse is an Atlantic turbot and is caught and eaten with relish. Communist rule in Poland, established in the wake of the Russian army in 1945, collapsed in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
