Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74433

This specimen was lot 74433 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 10 Zlotych, 1965-MW. Warsaw Mint. NGC MS-65. Full veil variety. Commemorating the 700th anniversary of Warsaw. This stunning Gem radiates with tremendous brilliance and yields supremely pleasing satiny fields." This is one of two commemoratives issued for this anniversary; the other, KM Y55, features the Sigismund Pillar. Communist rule in Poland, established in the wake of the Russian army in 1945, collapsed in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Recorded mintage: 3,492,000 plus 2,000,000 of KM Y55.
